Examination System Overview

The examination system at New Bharath Matriculation Higher Secondary School is designed to evaluate students’ academic progress systematically and continuously. The school follows a well-defined assessment structure that helps students develop subject understanding, examination readiness, discipline, and confidence at every stage of learning.

Examinations are conducted at regular intervals to assess learning outcomes, reinforce academic concepts, and prepare students for higher classes and public examinations.

Internal Assessment Structure

Weekly Tests (Classes I – XII)

To ensure regular practice and continuous learning, Weekly Tests are conducted:

  • Frequency: Every Week
  • Subjects Covered: Core subjects on rotation
  • Purpose: Reinforce daily learning and improve performance

Mid-Term Tests (Classes I – XII)

To ensure continuous evaluation, Mid-Term Tests are conducted during the academic year:

  • First Mid-Term Test: July – 2nd Week
  • Second Mid-Term Test: November – 2nd Week
  • Third Mid-Term Test: February – 2nd Week

These tests help monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and provide timely academic support.

Terminal / Summative Examinations

For Classes I – VII

  • I Summative Examination: September – 2nd Week
  • II Summative Examination: December – 2nd Week
  • III Summative Examination (Annual): March – 4th Week

For Classes VIII - XII

  • Quarterly Examination: September – 2nd Week
  • Half-Yearly Examination: December – 2nd Week
  • Annual Examination: March – 4th Week

These examinations are conducted as per the Matriculation academic framework and play a major role in promotion decisions.

Examination Portions

Syllabus portions for each examination are clearly planned and communicated to students in advance. Exam portions are fixed based on the academic calendar to ensure systematic coverage of subjects and adequate preparation time for students.

Examination Time Tables

Detailed examination timetables are issued prior to every test and examination. Students are expected to strictly adhere to the scheduled dates, timings, and examination instructions provided by the school.

Promotion Criteria (Exam-Based)

Student promotion to the next class is based on:

  • Performance in terminal examinations
  • Minimum required marks in each subject
  • Regular attendance and discipline

Examination Discipline

Strict examination discipline is maintained. Any form of malpractice during examinations is viewed seriously and dealt with according to school rules. Re-examinations are not conducted for students absent during scheduled exams.

Progress Reports

Progress cards are issued after examinations to inform parents about academic performance, grades, and areas for improvement. Parents are encouraged to review and acknowledge progress reports regularly.
